Beverley Young & Harmony Yoga UK

Picture
I began to practice Yoga formally 30 years ago but had already been attracted to it as a young girl when I watched Richard Hittleman’s programme on TV, Yoga for Health.  Hittleman was one of the first to bring Yoga to the west and I was drawn by a sense of peace that this man conveyed.  I was a pretty mixed up teenager full of complexes and gravitated towards this discipline, instinctively feeling it could help me.  Finally, when I was 25 I started regular Yoga lessons and continued to practice at home.  I felt I’d discovered a new world, an alternative to anything I’d ever known.  It wasn’t long before I wanted to go further and pass my experiences on to others so, in 1996, I embarked on my first teacher training course in Milan, Italy where I lived.  I was already a teacher so it seemed to be the natural course to take.

I soon began to teach adults and children, working both in gyms and privately in people’s homes.  On returning to the UK  in 2008 I also obtained the British Wheel of Yoga’s teaching diploma and now have various courses around Lincolnshire – see ‘Courses.’

I teach groups and also give individual lessons and have gained experience in teaching Yoga for those with arthritis, Yoga for back pain and Yoga for the infirm and those with dementia (I call these courses Music & Movement as the emphasis is on gentle movements to sing-along-music).
